Spirulina is a freshwater blue-green micro-algae with an extremely high chlorophyll content, which has a beneficial effect on digestion and metabolism.
It is about 100 times larger than other algae and its cells are often visible to the naked eye.
Like chlorella, they have a very high plant protein content (up to 60-65%). They are complete proteins, which means that they provide all 8 essential amino acids in the right proportions. Most plant proteins are not complete proteins because they lack 1 or more amino acids.
Another advantage is that spirulina provides these amino acids in an easily digestible form, so they are not wasted during digestion.
Rich in vitamins (A, B and E), amino acids, minerals, trace elements (potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, manganese, iron and selenium) and enzymes, it is a great support for our immune system. It also contains vitamin B12, which is found in very few plant foods, making it an ideal food for vegetarians.
