The Rhino Pro Activated Carbon Filter is an aluminum cylinder that contains a fine, granular form of activated carbon created through a special manufacturing process. Each activated carbon grain has a highly porous surface, giving it a large surface area relative to its size. Activated carbon has the unusual ability to purify and deodorize air that passes through it. It does this by attracting and trapping contaminants and aromatic substances on its surface, purifying the air that passes through it.
The bottom and top of the filter are made of 1.6mm thick aluminum and are therefore very light. The base is conically shaped to ensure optimal airflow. The device has a unique "anti-air bypass" system. The 50mm thick bed of Australian RC412 charcoal is machine packed to produce a stable, high quality product perfect for hydroponic applications.
Rhino Pro carbon filters are specifically designed to purify and deodorize air (not liquids). The used air is sucked through the filter with the help of a connected fan (not included), which must be matched to the filter used in terms of air flow and the size of the duct. The air is drawn in from the outside of the drum and first flows through a washable dust sleeve that filters out dust and other large particles so that they do not clog the main filter section. The air then flows through a short spiral labyrinth that is densely filled with the world's highest quality activated carbon - Australian RC412. As air flows through the activated carbon layer, odors and particles are absorbed into its pores, leaving the air clean and odor-free. Inside the can, the air is swirled by the vortex cone in the bottom. This creates a negative pressure in the can, which increases and balances the air flow. The purified air is then released outside via your extractor hood.
